NANTA Western Zone Unveils Activities to End 2019

The National Association Of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) Western Zone has unveiled the events to end the activities for the year 2019.

NANTA Western Zone kick-start the one week activities today with a press conference. The theme of the end of the year activities is tagged "Stronger Together".

Speaking to news men at NANTA Western Zone Office in Ibadan, the Vice President - Western Zone, National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Mr. Tokunbo Dagunduro said the association will keep creating awareness through the media of what NANTA stands for and its course to promote tourism in Nigeria.

Dagunduro said the significance of the media on tourism promotion cannot be over emphasized, the more reason they are kick-starting with the press conference.

He announced the one-week end of the year activities as follows; Day 2: Tuesday, 10th December - Member gathers for body exercise at KAYROMLEE Gym Center, Liberty Stadium by 8:30am. With a visit to Juvenile Correctional Institution and Child Care Unit, Ijokodo, Ibadan to donate some items to the less privileged. Day 3: Wednesday, 11th December - Seminar at NANTA Western Secretariat by 12noon. Day 4: Thursday, 12th December declared a free day for all members. Day 5: Friday, 13th December was set aside for prayer & thanksgiving service at Bodija Estate Muslim Mosque, Opposite Housing Corporation, Bodija, Ibadan. Thereafter, there will be a get-together party and gala ceremony at JOGOR Center from 3pm prompt.

The Vice President stated further that Day 6: Saturday, 14th December also declared a free day while on Day 7: Sunday, 15th December, there will be a thanksgiving service at St. Paul Anglican Church, Odo Ona, Apata, Ibadan from 10am prompt as a way to end the activities.

Also speaking at the press conference, the Zonal Secretary, NANTA, Mr. Hezekiah Afolabi disclosed that some corporate organizations, airlines and stakeholders in the travel industry shall be honoured with awards of recognition at Jogor center.

On NANTA achievements, Dagunduro said "It is well to note that, the association at national level has achieved a remarkable mark in the areas of identification as the association has introduced Nigerian Travel Practitioners Identity Card (NTPIC) to curb illegal activities while the Western zone members are well mobilized for the issuance of the new membership card".

"NANTA Western Zone has been able to bring notable international airlines to Ibadan to meet with the members. We are able to organized various trainings for our members while our members participated at various international travel events", Dagunduro hinted.

The VP reiterated on the need to mention some challenges been faced by NANTA members and requires government intervention. Among the factors mentioned are multiple taxes; irregular power supply and epileptic internet services.

"We also want to appeal to everyone and especially the media to help us draw the attention of the government on the need for standalone ministry for tourism. It is also paramount that the western states governors should organize south-west tourism summit as a way to champion course for tourism development in the zone", Dagunduro said.

In conclusion, the Vice President, NANTA hinted that the Executive Governor of Oyo State is expected to grace the Thanksgiving service on Sunday while notable stakeholders in the travel industry and representatives of airlines/corporate organizations with more than three tourism commissioners from various states are also expected at the gala ceremony.
