AFRAA announced shift of 51st Annual General Assembly to Mauritius

The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) announced to its esteemed members, partners and industry stakeholders that the date and venue for the 51st AFRAA Annual General Assembly (AGA) & Summit which was scheduled to take place from 24-26 November 2019 in Yaounde, Cameroon have been changed.

The 51st AGA will take place from 10-12 November 2019 at the Intercontinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort at the kind invitation of Air Mauritius.

Expressing appreciation to the new host, Secretary General of AFRAA, Mr. Abderahmane Berthe said: "We are grateful to Air Mauritius and the people of Mauritius for their willingness to host this most important gathering of aviation stakeholders on the continent. This is again a testament to their legendary hospitality and commitment to the development of the African aviation industry"

He noted that this comes after the country successfully hosted the 8th Aviation Stakeholder Convention which brought together more than 300 delegates from Africa and across the globe to stimulate dialogue, build sustainable networks to create a more competitive environment for business and improve the aviation support base on the continent.

On his part Air Mauritius Chief Executive Officer Mr. Somas Appavou said: "It is a pleasure and honour for us to host the 51st Annual General Assembly of AFRAA after the productive 8th Aviation Stakeholder Convention held in Mauritius in May. We are thankful for the role that Air Mauritius has been called upon to play within AFRAA. Being part of Africa, we face the challenges and share the opportunities of the continent aviation industry. Moreover, as a Small Island Developing State, being part of a broader partnership such as AFRAA is key for us to overcome the hurdles stemming from our insularity. We are looking forward to contribute in making the next AGM of AFRAA a success."

All efforts have been made to minimize the inconvenience caused by the change in date and venue. AFRAA and Air Mauritius look forward to hosting you in Mauritius for a memorable Assembly in November.

The Annual General Assembly is the premier gathering of African airline CEOs and senior global aviation executives. Annually, the AGA brings together aviation leaders and stakeholders to take stock of aviation milestones and plan the future for the development of African aviation.
