The Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mr. Folarin Coker during the unveiling of "Tour Nigeria" brand at Boat Club House, Ikoyi, Lagos recently.

NTDC helmsman unveiled "Tour Nigeria" brand to promote domestic tourism

The Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mr. Folarin Coker has launched "Tour Nigeria" brand in line with his vision of promoting domestic tourism in the country.

The "Tour Nigeria" brand aimed to showcase the vibrant and friendly energy of Nigerians through different creative expressions was unveiled during a media interactive session held at Boat Club House, Ikoyi, Lagos recently.

Coker revealed the brand will also promote diverse multi-cultural heritage in Nigeria and innovate new channels of tourism markets in Nigeria.

The NTDC helmsman said "the brand will leverage on the best of Nigeria. Nigerians are known to be intelligent hard-working people, we are also known for our "can-do" and "never-say-never" attitude, which is complimented with a friendly and accommodating spirit.

We are proudly the most populous black nation on Earth, home to the second largest film industry on the globe whilst also being the fashion, technological and creative hub in Africa". "In line with our agenda to promote domestic and regional tourism, the "Tour Nigeria" brand was conceived to drive domestic consumption of our tourism assets and products, create new channels of tourism markets, add to the GDP of the nation, create employment, and increase spending in the economy", Coker added.

To quicken growth of the tourism industry, the NTDC boss disclosed that a Tourism Development ROADMAP with short, medium and long-term objectives as been prepared.

Coker said further, "We have also agreed on For the smooth operation of the "Tour Nigeria" brand, the NTDC boss disclosed that a strategic 5-point Action Plan to innovate our tourism and improve service delivery and effectiveness in critical sectors of the industry.

The acronym for the strategic 5-point Action Plan to grow the industry is CHIEF, which represents - b Corporate Governance & Regulations; Human Capital Development; Infrastructural Development; Events and Marketing; and Finance & Investment".

Concluding, Coker reiterated that as Director General of NTDC, he will not relent in reversing the negative impressions in the minds of the public about Nigerian tourism.
