Gulf Air Marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Kingdom of Bahrain, today held a Breast Cancer Awareness workshop at the Muharraq headquarters of the airlines, marking Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The event was attended by Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam and members of the Gulf Air family.

The Breast Cancer Awareness workshop included a breast cancer detection screening service for the female workforce of the airline, a training session on self-examination and several other health-related activities that were held alongside a charity bake sale, from which funds were raised and donated to the Bahrain Cancer Society to benefit cancer research.

The airline Health clinic conducted informative medical lectures for staff while Think Pink - Bahrain and Bahrain Cancer Society both collaborated in the day-long event providing attendees with valuable information regarding the disease and the means of prevention and management.

Gulf Air is involved in a number of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, as part of its corporate social responsibility principles.

Earlier this year the airline marked World Cancer Day with a company-wide initiative consisting of awareness and fundraising activities in collaboration with the Bahrain Cancer Society.

As a responsible global citizen the airline has, most recently, conducted an official visit to Muharraq Geriatric Hospital during the holy month of Ramadan, partnered with Dreams Society, on the occasion of World Charity Day, donating airline tickets to the local charity in order to help them realize the dreams of children effected with terminal illnesses and debilitating diseases and collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) office in Bahrain to celebrate World Environment Day and raise environmental awareness amongst all members of the local community.
