Ethiopian Airlines adds eighth Boeing 787 Dreamliner to the expanding fleet

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's fastest growing and most profitable airline, is pleased to announce it has added an eighth Boeing 787 Dreamliner to its rapidly expanding fleet.

The new aircraft was delivered on 26th June. This latest additional aircraft will support the increased frequency of flights between London Heathrow and Addis Ababa as the airline moves to a daily schedule from London Heathrow on July 8th.

Ethiopian, was the first airline in the world outside of Japan to receive the Dreamliner in August 2012; and was the first airline to bring the new jet to London's largest hub airport Heathrow.

In addition it is already the largest operator of the B787 in Africa and is expecting a further two B787s to join the fleet this year.

The existing Dreamliners in the fleet are being utilised for long haul routes between Africa, the USA, Canada and China. Notably passengers flying to the World Cup in Brazil from Africa are enjoying the benefits this technologically advanced aircraft offers.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam comments: "The 787 is truly without peers in its category both in terms of passenger comfort and operational excellence. As technology leaders on the continent of Africa we will continue to introduce the latest technologically advanced aircraft with the aim of meeting the high expectations of our valued customers."

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner provides customers with enhanced on-board comfort with greatly reduced noise, higher ceilings, the largest windows in the sky, lower cabin altitude so reducing the effects of jet lag, unique lighting, larger overhead storage and an overall enhanced travel experience. Ethiopian B787s, offer a two-class configuration with 24 business class/Cloud Nine seats and 246 seats in economy.

Ethiopian Airlines is a global Pan-African carrier currently serving 81 international destinations across five continents with over 200 daily departures and operating 67 modern aircraft such as the Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s.
